Ah... Voicechat with family last night turned into Baby's First Intro to Feminism for my brother and I suddenly remember why I don't talk to my family all that often.

It wasn't even me doing most of the talking, my mom is nearly a professional social justice bard so she was able to carry most of the argument...

It was just....... deeply upsetting to hear my brother admit that he thinks women do have equality and that his interpretation of feminism is women wanting to crush all men and take over everything.

I think I always knew he kind of felt like that but it's still like, oof.

It was a good talk that needed to happen because he won't change unless he's challenged, and we all still clearly love each other, but I'm wired to be so conflict-avoidant when it comes to my own family

It all started because mom and I were rolling our eyes about Fran's armor design from FFXII and my brother tried to defend it by saying the game was created for a majority male audience and us just being like, "...K no u can't tho???"

My brother is smart and is a very good person, so I just hope any of it sinks in for him eventually.
