well, canon states that all magicians have a special talent. A school of magic that they're specially good at - it's called a discipline. Quentin was undetermined for 3.5 seasons and then we find out its Mending. Minor Mending. so, he's good at fixing small objects. he can do a lot of different magic, though.

make fire, conjure wine. hammer in nails and extract them. use the extracted nails as shrapnel. magical shields and magic missiles. help plants grow. bend light. purify water. he's very good at sleight of hand, too
