African Painted Dog Puppies Get First Physical Exams

Brookfield Zoo is entirely closed to visitors right now, but of course, the necessary animal husbandry goes on, and in this case, that involves exams and identifying photos for seven whole puppies.

These little guys haven't been handled by humans before, the staff at Brookfield have been watching but they've been leaving them entirely to their mother.

(No one mentions, in this video, exactly how they distracted said mama so as to be able to gather up and remove all seven pups.)

(my mom suggested some really nice enrichment, maybe)
