[COVID-19/Coronavirus] I chose the worst time to be out of town, but I'm heading home tonight (and going to be going in/out of very small airports that do not handle international flights). I won't be going into work until Thursday though

Current work plans are classes were cancelled this week (spring break was extended by another week), to allow instructors time to prepare to deliver their courses online

My supervisor is having to self quarantine for the next two weeks (because she foolishly ended up traveling internationally) and is working from home

I have an odd feeling us staff are going to be shafted and expected to be in our offices like normal while faculty and students are expected to stay home and carry online

thankfully I have my own office and we're all separated, so we're not crammed together or anything

but it's so unnecessary, I can easily do my job at home 100%

Things aren't too bad in North Texas right now, so I'm not too worried currently, but I'm skeptical that they'll allow us to go full telecommute if/when things DO get worse

yeah, our department is far more open to the idea of telecommuting and we have each other's home numbers in case we end up having to transition to that, so we'll see

anyway I thought I'd give an update in case anyone was wondering, since I know this is on everyone's minds

I've made sure my department knows I live with someone immunocompromised and I'm practicing damn good hand hygiene and carrying a travel size hand sanitizer that I had gotten as a gift at one point

At least students aren't really on campus, they've currently kept the residence halls open and dining options (for students that have no where else to go)

but no classes means the commuters aren't around

which is a large chunk of our student population

Yeah, I may be stuck home now, but my own campus was reassuringly a ghost town yesterday

While my trip out of town was poorly planned timing, I did go to the airports that are seeing no action right now, so my flight should be a ghost town too honestly
