Character families. We'll be here a while.....

So Ivar has a BIG family and most of the drama in the show comes from the fact that it is very complicated.

His father Ragnar was the most famous Viking in the world. He had a son Bjorn with his first wife Lagertha 16 years before Ivar is born, creating the large age gap between them. He then married Aslaug, his second wife and Ivar's mother, when he found out she was pregnant and they all realized Lagertha was most likely infertile.

In short order, Aslaug had Ubbe, Hvitserk, and Sigurd before Ivar, who are four, three, and one year older then he is, which means the poor woman had four kids in five years, which explains why she's a little pissed off at being treated like a brood mare.

Ivar has an uncle, Rollo, who betrayed Ragnar and became a Frankish duke in the process when Ivar was a tiny one, so Ivar never knew him until he was a teen, and frankly, he doesn't care much for the man cause he's OLD and GREEDY. But mostly old.

Ivar adored his brothers growing up, but his relationship with Sigurd became strained and then soured because Aslaug spent all her time focused on Ivar because he was disabled. He also wasn't the most fond of this treatment either, but hey, what else could he do?

Ubbe is called "his legs" a few times in the series and took on a paternal role for his brothers when his father abandoned the family for ten years, so Ivar sees him not only as a brother but a father figure in a way. And Hvitserk......he's the quiet one and kind of stupid, but he remained loyal to Ivar long after his other brothers abandoned him.

He also had Floki, Ragnar's best friend, who became an honorary uncle figure to Ivar as he grew up and taught him much about the world. He paid a lot of attention to Ivar also because his own child, a little girl named Angerboda, was born the same year Ivar was, but died when she was about three or four, so there was a hole in his heart that

needed to be filled.

Ragnar he hated for many years because of the abandonment for ten years, but that went out the window when Ragnar came back and paid attention to him. But their budding relationship was cut short when Ragnar was killed by the English forces. And then Aslaug is killed by Lagertha in a coup to take over her throne as Queen of Kattegat.

Ivar and Ubbe team up in an attempt to kill her for revenge while Sigurd and Hvitserk don't really care, never having been that fond of their mother, but they're foiled by Bjorn. The brothers put their feud on hold to go to England to avenge their father, and everything goes really well until Sigurd taunts Ivar one too many times, and he snaps and kills him.

And that brings us up to the end of Season Four, which I figure is a good place to stop before I sum up the rest of the seasons hehe.

Now for the main three on the memes....

Lurine has no blood relatives to speak of, but she considers Daisy a goddaughter, and being a supernatural creature, she takes such claims EXTREMELY seriously. Being under the protection of the lamia means no one fucks with her unless they have a death wish.

Mando's parents were killed in the Clone Wars, but being a Mandalorian foundling raised by them, he takes the ties to his tribe EXTREMELY seriously. He would die for them and they for him. Also, he's a new parent, single dad to the world's most adorable alien, Baby Yoda, and officially has been declared his adoptive father by the Armorer in the season finale

Maul had family on Dathomir, which is a bit of a plot twist the first time one watches The Clone Wars. His mother is Mother Talzin, leader of the Nightsisters, and Maul is clearly the favorite child from her treatment of him. It's not clear if it's guilt or actual love that motivates her, but everything she does is to get revenge on Sidious for stealing him

away when he was just a child. (How old is ambiguous due to the way they drew him, but I'd say somewhere between 5-8.)

His father is unknown, but due to Dathomirian customs, likely was killed after Talzin was done with him. Yeah, their culture is horrible towards the men sometimes. He had two brothers, Savage and Feral, and it's unclear who's supposed to be the oldest of them all, especially since Maul and Savage tend to switch off who acts like the older brother.

Feral is definitely the youngest of the three and Talzin clearly thinks he's just there as cannon fodder, for he's killed as a final test after they use Nightsister magicks on Savage to brainwash him and turn him into a 7 foot tall brute. Which might have been best for the galaxy at large given that Feral, with his passive personality,

likely would've followed his older brothers around and murdered half the galaxy as well as a family bonding experience.

But Savage, despite murdering Feral, is completely loving and devoted to Maul, and in turn, he's one of the few people Maul has a soft spot for. His mother and Savage are two of the only people that never tried to screw him over or manipulate him and he gives them loyalty and love in return.

Granted, he tries to backtrack on being brothers with Savage and instead tries to establish the pecking order of master and apprentice with him, but it's mostly because he's afraid of and has trouble processing his own feelings towards his brother. Savage saves him from himself, finding him when no one else gave a damn about him, and took him

back to their mother. But there's several points in the series where it's clear Savage brings out his softer side when no one else can do it. When fighting Obi-Wan, he always will choose to save Savage over getting a killing blow on Obi-Wan every time.

And his death scene is extremely sad. It's filmed and angled almost the same way as Obi-Wan holding Qui-Gon, showing that Maul finally understands the pain he put Obi-Wan through. His hearts are breaking because there's nothing he can do to save his brother and he knows this is all his fault. Savage wouldn't have been there if it wasn't for him.
