thinking about.... the harlem globetrotters

more specifically about their rival team, the Washington Generals

who have a career history of something like 3 wins, 16,000 losses against the Globetrotters

the interesting thing is how the games aren't actually entirely staged

like, actual basketball happens during them

when the Generals have the ball they will attempt to score with it

their only hard rule is that when the Globetrotters are doing Hijinks, the Generals won't interrupt

I think I just like the idea that there's an evil basketball team whose entire purpose is to job to the globetrotters

I have this memory in my mind of a Harlem Globetrotters gag where the Generals brought out the basketball and it always rolled around from the Globetrotters, right towards the Generals

apparently at their last win in 1971, the crowd reaction to the Globetrotters losing was akin to if they watched the Generals murder Santa Claus in cold blood

With the Generals couch holding like an RC Car remote control the whole time

fucking incredible

truly they will stop at nothing to defeat their nemesis

the Generals have a youtube channel with videos about how the team is better than ever and THIS time, they're gonna beat the Globetrotters

do they have one of them for like...every year?

every month?
