Lord Nick
[D&D/backstory talk] When you've made a character weeks ago and upon some research realize you've now got a character that's probably considered a dangerous heretic by his people.
Lord Nick
This is about Skir, my new Lizardfolk Artificier.
Lord Nick
So upon doing some research into Lizardfolk it turns out that their technology level is so low because they actively despise and shun intelligence.
Lord Nick
This is because most Lizardfolk worship the god Semuanya who represents instinct and decisiveness over Kecuala, their god of reason and intellect. Mostly because their stories talk about how Kecuala thought too much to act and ended up causing all kinds of problems.
Lord Nick
As such the average intelligence of a lizardfolk is 7. A really intelligent leader might have an intelligence of 10 to 12. Skir has an intelligence of 20
Lord Nick
Now in his backstory he became an Artificer because he collected the schemas and writings of a human adventurer his tribe had captured and eaten and started applying them.
Lord Nick
I didn't realize at the time that he'd be spitting on the core ideals of the Lizardfolk religion by doing so
Lord Nick
So not only am I realizing he was probably thrown out of his tribe for being too smart but he's probably being actively hunted under the orders of the various shamans and warlocks dedicated to Semuanya for fear of him ending up spreading Kecuala's teachings.
Lord Nick
Naturally I'm now leaning all the way into this and even marked Kecuala as his preferred deity.
