Sifting through my Dirk fanart... and man, there's a kind of cognitive dissonance that occurs when people draw Ult Dirk (23-26 years old) identical to skinny teen Dirk?

That's a PRETTY LARGE TIME JUMP, that's 7-10 YEARS during which your body is literally doing MOST of its changes wrt looking like an actual fucking adult?

Like the Dirk I play in VR isn't the only way he could obviously look, not by a long shot, and tbh I actually get a few different variations on his theme when I commission art of him, which I think it super neat bUT ANYWAY the point is if he's still a skinny teen looking figure it's just... weird, that's WEIRD.

Personally my ideal Ult Dirk is any Dirk that sits in that weird sweet spot, the liminal space/uncanny valley between fandom Bro and teenage Dirk Strider.

YGGDRGVE Yeah I interpreted it as really thick, dramatic eyebrows. This was sort of further reinforced when Dave's PQ route came out and James Roach specifically talked about Dave having big eyebrows.... but like, THIS IS WHAT I HAD TO WORK WITH.

overall my attitude wrt Homestuck is if you want a specific look for your character then just go for it, if not then you can just

slap on anything you like
