It wasn't an extraordinarily long session — at least not for me — but it was a fulfilling one all the same. Increased the difficulty level by one, defeated the boss of World 14, and explored the first level of World 15. Good stuff.
I got access to double damage dealing smoothies recently; combined with having guaranteed extra turns and rushes (which means that my buffs stay on for longer), and it made the boss an absolute cakewalk.
So, I went to visit a friend of mine. Despite the rest of her kids staying with their father for the weekend, one stayed behind because he had work. He expressed a desire to play an older Mario game — specifically, one with 2P alternating gameplay — and settled on Mario 3.
He's not good at platformers at all, so he kept dying quite a bit. Me, on the other hand? Well, I grew up on the game, so I kept showing him things that blew his mind.

Hun, the original Game Boy Tetris had a 2P mode with garbage blocks, and I targeted you for one game, and you couldn't do shit against me. You would get murked.
Booted this up, and although it was only three people — and two of them were ultra newbs — we had a blast… well, until the adapter started glitching out for no discernible reason. Still fun times, though.
(Although, that may have happened because one of the dogs started nomming at my GameCube controller cable. No lasting damage I believe, but I'm still lightly irked. It's a very young dog though, so I'm not gonna be too hard at it; just some stern looks and whatnot.)

This is just how many reps I did to take down the boss.
Pathetic.
Also, this game's writing continues to be delightful.

I booted up the game just because, but my friend saw that I was playing Tetris, and wanted in on the fun.
She was not aware of the insanity that is Tetris 99.
Like most people that are expecting one particular thing, and end up getting a radical new spin on it, she hated it.
