Now I’m gonna crack open the next one and see if I can actually manage to close it in order to go to bed on time

My goal is fifteen this year, which is super light considering how fast I read, but since I’ve been having trouble I didn’t wanna overburden myself and risk feeling super guilty

I’ve read fan fiction, and manga on my phone (which technically counts, of course) but I’ve just been so stuck with my books

I'm glad! my irl friends read a lot faster than I do so I get intimidated so I also had to learn to just set realistic goals and read at my own pace

And for the record, I didn’t realize until near the end that Rise of the Isle of the Lost happens just before Descendants 2 (I thought it was just like. The book the movie was adapted from?) and most of the way through I was just thinking “this would have made a WAY better movie”

It fills in some questions I had too, like why the fuck Mal seemed to suddenly wanna be the perfect Auradon princess

So I’m much more at ease now that I’ve read the lead-up

And I was loving the book (I’ll devour any content related to Apollo. If I had a religion...) just fine. I just got stuck and felt like I couldn’t open it and start reading it again to save my life
