Why is no one on artstation actually selling licenses to their photos but only selling brushes and how-to videos? Or am I just too dumb to find that stuff?
Nimil
because artstation is not meant to be a photo source
Nimil
its meant to be a portfolio, the added the store to allow artists to sell tutorials and brushes and textures
Tillie
hm same for deviant art, it's even worse there.

People always complain about not getting money and stuff getting ripped... and then when you look for it, no one is even offering stuff for sale. That's ... weird.
Tillie
Oh, I think I found what I am looking for. :-)

Deviantart has the option to sell prints and gadget, but i suppose the percentage the site take is too high. Most of the artists i follow uses specialized print sites for their prints, or they set up a personal store.

Manachan : I want digital files though, not prints. I want to use them for the world I am creating on World Anvil... articles there need image headers ...

Tillie : well not every artist want to sell the rights for their stuff. It's easier to commission them and paid them enough to get the copyrights too.
Nimil
yeah could always commission someone to do headers for your project, you're planning to spend money on licensing anyway so might as well get something custom to your stuff!
Nimil
especially when a lot of the stuff you're going to find on portfolio sites might be comissions for others or licensed projects. a lot of people on artstation are in the game industry so their art that they show off is a lot of work for projects they were involved in.
