For me, it's not confusing on the number of official Sentai teams vs. the number of Sentai seasons. From my own perspective between the Hurricanegers/Gouraigers and the "VS Sentai", I think it's clear that these two teams have different plots, specifically how they will unite together to defeat their common enemy.
