...transformers is a weird duck and I think it's got a lot of the same energy, where people are so used to being spat on that they just knee-jerk stan anything that comes along
like I think a lot of it is reactionary "oh no everyone hates this I HAVE TO FIND THE GOOD IN IT" mindwaves that get people defending the Bay movies, or the bad Sonics, or Pat Lee, or Ken Penders
The live action TF designs were kind of weird in that they were MUCH better in motion, except Bay refused to keep the camera on them in motion (see: busy directing)
ok i will defend sonic's original design. not because it's good, but because it's so bad that it would be fucking hilarious to see him flail about for 90 minutes in an attempt to look cool kinda like how the super mario bros movie was a gross looking mess but was still a blast to watch
I think the main issue is probably that the Autobot side is composed of only a few bots so their designs can be better thought out, especially with Optimus and Bumblebee but others like Ratchet and Drift
Like this is true: I went to see Dark of the Moon and spent the entire next week wondering why Soundwave and Shockwave just sort of disappeared before I found out they both died in the movie.
I honest to God had to go and rewatch it because I did not notice two major antagonists getting killed because I couldn't visually differentiate them from the hundreds of featureless grey bad guy robots.
I won't launch into a rant here, mostly because I'm supposed to be getting ready for work, but needless to say the third infuriated me. The second one is awful but the third one was just... it made me mad.
like, god. you can like TLK live action all you want but if you go onto a review website and call it "as good as the original" I am gonna throw handsSonic Fans
Putting up with so much
