I visited Dad in the hospital and he seems to have stopped pretending that he's blind. Now to convince him that he can walk.
Joan_W
The day I took him to the ER he could sit up, stand up, and walk by himself, so now that his kidneys are OK I don't see the need for continuing the charade. I'm hoping to get him into physio rehab instead of a seniors institution. His attention seeking is getting him into so much trouble!
mimi
Oh, I'm so sorry. That's a really difficult situation.

I wish there was an easy answer, but "let him stew in his juices" is unkind. I'm sorry for your situation, Joan. (cozy)

won't the hospital do some kind of assessment before they discharge him?

exeat : You'd think. Unfortunately they have no trouble believing that a 92 year old can't walk, so they're following the path of least resistance.

They won't address Dad's psychiatric issues.
Joan_W
What's worse, it turns out my brother seems to have similar psychiatric problems. I'm pretty much in hell

just keep visiting him, you need to take care of yourself for a bit. His other issues might start showing up as he gets used to the nurses
Joan_W
say, Grace#🟦 : I'm not visiting him every day, which helps me. He had been in an intensive care unit where he got 5 star treatment and tons of attention. He's now in a transitional unit, since that his kidney failure has resolved, that I'd compare to a fleabag motel, where he gets little attention and his roommate speaks no English and moans constantly.

I have to be well enough to make it to tomorrow's meeting. So much depends on the decisions made in the coming days. I may go to the ER afterwards, though. I feel a lot like I did before my bypass.

Oh, please don't endanger yourself. I'm sorry all this is on your shoulders.
