I do get nostalgic for some of my old characters, but Firefly is one of those works where I can't separate the creator from the canon (aside from /wild gesture at everything else wrong with Firefly), the behind the scenes bullshit with Castle soured the canon for me a little (and playing Castle would require extensive canon review I don't have time for)

and I have fond memories of SGA but I don't think I could ever play Jennifer again, either, not after having to struggle to make her sound interesting and engaging.

Sometimes I think about playing a Power Ranger but canon review gets in the way again

Or in the case of Denziman, the Sentai series I'm currently watching, it's pure monster of the week with little in the way of continuity and ongoing character development
