I agree with Wen. And actual butter. Theatre "butter" does have a certain appeal but real butter can't be beat. I have had popcorn where someone added margarine instead of butter. That stuff is vile.

I love salty and buttery popcorn. Here you can get salted popcorn but that's all it is - salt. The butter is essential IMO. Sweet and salty popcorn is tasty though.

A bit of Sriracha sauce with the salt and butter is pretty tasty, too.

My husband adds lemon juice to the butter and salt, but I don't like it. Makes it too soggy.

I made pot popcorn years ago. Gave some to Gidge. She about died, as she does not do such things but was curious. She missed work the next day because it didn't wear off. It was a very interesting 24 hours.

It should be eaten like fondue, warm heated butter on a burner to dip each kernel of popcorn in individually.

Annie - I cooked an eighth (waaaaaaaay too much!) in a stick of butter on low for 20 minutes then poured it on. It was peppery.

Yeah that would be way too much. One time T made brownies and we went and bought gnomes the next day. Problem was we got hungry and there were brownies. I think it took about three days to get over it. 👀

That was years ago though. Sigh. The good old days
