So... when you change a bandage, do you also replace the wound closures, or can they stay?
Tanarian
If you have stitches or staples, they stay until your doctor tells you when they should come out. Bandage is to keep the wound clean, and needs regular replacement.
Searra
Butterfly closures. This is a DIY situation.
Tanarian
Ahhh. Then... I would if they look soiled by body fluids.
Searra
Stopped bleeding with minimal pressure and elevation despite being about an inch long and curving around the second knuckle. Washed, store brand bacitracin and closures applied.
Searra
Splinted so I don't forget and bend the finger. I already did it once and reopened things.
Tanarian
OW. :-(
Tanarian
Did you apply ice?
Tanarian
Could always run it by fogwoman, too.
GarlicMyfi
For the butterfly bandages they put on after my surgery, they said to leave them until they fell off by themselves. I admit I helped a few.
Searra
That's what I did. Just put on more bacitracin and a clean bandage.
Searra
Haven't checked yet this morning, but no discomfort over night,
Kghia
Potential zombie situation. Just sayin'
Searra
Hopefully not. (LOL)
Searra
24 hours later, and no sign of infection.
Corgi
Good work keeping it clean!
Kghia
keeps a watchful eye in case you start to look longingly at my brains.
Foggy
Leave in place since taking them off can reopen wound.
Searra
At more than 50 hours, no redness or swelling. I also still find the idea of eating even more conventional organ meats disgusting, so I think we're good.
Corgi
That's an excellent point, Foggy
