the other thing is that transphobia is OVERWHELMINGLY a middle class phenomenon

being someone who rotates around the working/middle cusp I have people I know on both sides and guess which side are all the "I just don't like it, it's not how I'm raised" types and which side is the not-woke but "it doesn't matter to me, people should just be allowed to be who they are" type

it is almost as if people's opinions are based on how much capital they have

I mean not always. there's plenty of genuinely nice middle class people and plenty of evil working class shitheads

but middle classness uses identity bigotry in order to protect its capital and then tries to trick everyone else into believing that dogshit. so it spreads downwards.
