University students in particular were despised as they demonstrated knowledge and international visions that would lead Hong Kong step by step towards democracy.
Student activist groups played an active role and acted as catalyst in the Umbrella Movement back in 2014, while young politicians from the Fishball Revolutions in 2016 inspired new directions for the revolution. Now, 2019. Student leaders who were once fresh in the field are now appearing on the international stage.
Slogans that were once perceived as over-radical, over-progressive underwent resurgence and can be heard everywhere in Hong Kong. Youngsters took up the initiative and be proactive, finding different roles and positions that they can contribute to the social movement which has no centralized authority.
Those in power wanted the youth to succumb to fear, so they used every method they knew: introduction of brainwashing education in Primary and Secondary schools, attempt to take down Liberal Studies and ordering the law enforcement to selectively target at youngsters, to torture and arrest indiscriminately.
Yet, the pursuit of justice and freedom will never stop. Youngsters who experienced how wide and broad the world is shall not be controlled by the totalitarian regime, and the society, lead by fresh and new blood, shall continue to progress and improve.
以前長輩都說後生是原罪，年輕人就是廢青，香港的未來會毀在我們手上。
經過這些天，再沒有人可以說香港年輕人是廢青。
我們每一個人都在為自己，為香港的未來而努力。
回顧歷史，每一代的改革者都是年青人，
因為我們仍有漫長的人生，吸收更廣闊的資訊，更願意擁抱普世價值，
這是我們的地方，我們的未來，由我們做主。

自14年運動開始以來，親政府陣營已一直把年輕人抹黑為滋事份子，尤其仇視有見識、有國際視野、著意帶領香港走向民主的大學生。14年的雨傘運動學生團體起了重大的作用、16年的魚蛋革命年輕的政治人物啟發了抗爭的嶄新方向。現在是2019年，曾經青澀的學生領袖們已經向國際出發，曾經被市民視為過份激進的口號也響遍全港，曾經人云亦云的年輕人們在「無大台」的社運中各自找到了自己的角色。政權對年輕人的恐懼是如此巨大，以致用盡一切方法想從中小學校園開始進行洗腦、試圖取消通識科，以及吩咐執法機關選擇性對年輕人私刑、濫捕。但是，追求正義和自由的心是不會熄滅的，見識了世界廣闊的年輕人不會為極權的愚民政策所操控，社會永遠會在新血的帶領下愈發進步。
