there's a lot of noise from somewhere - like a ball being dropped on my roof and rolling and bouncing along or possibly something trying to break in and crawling around. Then other bumps or pops continued to occur.

been outside to look but can't see anything different (other than the general bad weather).

wonders if it's a delivery by avian carrier.

not expecting any Amazon deliveries via drone either.

May have just been an IP packet.

not currently got the equipment set up to detect dropped IP packets.

Avian carriers are apparently notoriously bad for dropping their service. Though they have been successfully used in the past. But it may have been more or less fixed routing.
