I've played alph with Jayne's wol (rose) as his wol as well as the derplander route too.

anyway, i say go with what makes it most fun for you! if there’s a particular WoL you’re feeling, go with that, or if you wanna do the derplander route that’s good too

the npcs i have accounts for/have considered playing are ysayle and mide so this likely would not be a problem even if i ever played them in games, i was curious about people's approach to it, especially those who play more shippy npcs

I’ve enjoyed my threads with Alphinaud where he didn’t recognize rose just as much as the threads where he did, so even if your character doesn’t recognize the WoL you can still have really good CR

I haven't played an NPC since el nysa (which I don't recall if it allowed WoLs or not?) but if it were me, I'd probably just have my character not even remember their WoL
