[star trek] lays down and has immense feelings and a sudden urge to rewatch the AOS movies

hey also guess who's fallen down the 8tracks hole lately the past few days and been listening to a bunch of mckirk playlists

the writing hasn't always been the best but dear god was this cast phenomenal

yes I even want to rewatch stid I have some khan playlists to listen to at some point too god that movie was a travesty and it could've been something

avoiding single-character playlists mostly, also gathering a bunch of party on the enterprise/beats and shouting/starfleet academy generalized ones for later

and also avoiding mirrorverse ones just bc not here! for that! rn!

Into Darkness would've been better if they didn't cast the palest fucker possible as Khan and had actually done something original with the characters involved

especially since the first AOS movie was already basically New Wrath of Khan but with Nero and Spock

into darkness would've been better if it wasn't New Wrath of Khan 2: Whitewash Boogaloo

you could've had a real interesting conversation about section 31 and all that THAT entails, PLUS here's white boy terrorist

just introduce john harrison and have him be some kinda rogue 31 agent!! maybe they were doing augment experiments or he was doing experiments on himself bc, to paraphrase serenity on the topic, sooner or later the people in charge of the world are gonna keep coming around to the idea that they can make people better

and jj (and orc-urtz-lof) coulda been honest about how he was doing wok-but-worse but noooo, he kept going NO GUYS REALLY WE'RE TOTALLY NOT DOING THAT HAHA

so that when surprise that's actually what it was and not only did the fandom call it years earlier but your cast also kept "accidentally" dropping hints or straight up revealing stuff, no one was impressed. not even with the OH HO HO WE REVERSED SPOCK AND KIRK

I mean visually it was great and it had great bits but it would've been so much better if it was an original story

god. remember how good beyond was? beyond was so good

and now, the flip side of the coin, I'm gonna look up bones/khan fics and see what I hit

Imma be honest 36 fics is still more than I was expecting
