a friend of mine has a fantastic SU liveblog (she does 2 eps a month) but the badtalk/entitlement from others on tumblr got SO bad she had to put it behind a paywall on patreon just to filter out the mob mentality
Steven is my dream hero, with the perfect powers (empathy powers!!!) for me, and he sings and he's GNC He's my perfect hero, and I am sensitive and kove all the characters and dont wanna hear Rough Takes
I'm also sensitive about Rose but in the same way I am w like Deku and his fr-- ok lbr with bakugou- like if a character is loved and forgiven in canon, it's probably Part of the Point
And u dont have to agree but don't be mad that people agree with the protag and their forgiveness Maybe u cant forgive tthe people that hurt u and that's TOTALLY OK, but people have the right to forgive if that's what they wanna do
What gets me is that steven DIDN'T forgive the diamonds??? he stood up to them and straight up told them "you hurt my mom, and you're hurting me, do better"
Agreed. This kind of thing came up when people were comparing the forgiveness of an abusive parent in Do You Love Your Mom to CLANNAD and I'm just like. They're very different.
In Your Mom, it's basically instant and not really earned -- the one case was "actually being controlled by an evil artifact all along!" but the other really was a bad person and both the forgiveness and redemption were instant. It's bad!
But the dad in CLANNAD recognized what he'd done wrong and worked for years to try to improve as a person before his son forgave him. It's a very different story there.
Right But there's a lot of people who, even when the story is fictional, don't believe there is any way to redeem an """abuser""" (read: legit abuser or people they just dont like) even if the target does work hard
