but also, like.... i just have an idea with this sort of thing in general, canon knowledge aside

because, i mean, there's a lot of interesting meta that i think we could talk about with reborn's students ability vs their connection to other people

especially since a young dino shared with our current tsuna the trait of not wanting anything to do with the mafia until it really started affecting the place/people he really cared about

I don't know about the novel thing but that feels like a case of extra materials and accessibility

and whether they're aware they exist

and i'm sure we could toss yamamoto in there somewhere too, as the genius sports kid who threw himself too deep into the One Thing he was great at but wasn't actually close to other people

and yeah, i can acknowledge that, but even aside that, it's just. bluh.

it's khr's problem with ~dark headcanon~ or ~dark AU~ because, honestly, this series ALREADY HAS a lot of dark aspects to it once you stop getting distracted by the comedy and shonen bits

it feels like not really. getting the source material. if that makes sense and doesn't make me sound totally pretentious lmao

like, these sort of dark headcanons/AUs always seem to go "what if this SUPER INNOCENT/NICE/FUNNY THING was in fact not" instead of, like.... looking at actual dark moments

like, there was a chapter in the manga where dino was the one put in charge of testing gokudera to see if this random street kid merc was actually legit staying with tsuna or if he was just chasing after money/prestige/power/etc

and if it was the latter, he was to be disposed of in proper mafia way

one could do A LOT with that chapter

it's just.... stuff like this always sees to ignore interesting narrative threads, or genuine dark stuff
