[cw: Gross/Bugs] I have to clean the trash can tonight. I have to do this thing. I told myself I would do it on Tuesday and now it's Tuesday. After that I can shower and eat and tag.
I can't throw the entire thing away. the thought did occur to me but it was a very expensive trash can that I got for the purposes of not having flies EVERYWHERE, because that has been a problem every single summer since I've moved in here. it has done its job in that regard - my daily life (and the cat's) are bug-free
nodnod. just remove the whole thing from your living space before you open it. maybe bring cleaning supplies outside with you and clean/disinfect the inside of the bin before bringing it back
I have purchased long cleaning gloves. also cleaning products that "spark joy" so I will be more inspired to clean - sparkle sponges and verbena all purpose cleaner. those are not for this.
also, at therapy today- her: what's the barrier to you taking the trash out? me: all the bugs her: what about before the bugs me: there isn't one, I take it out when it's full her: ... wait then why do you have bugs me: they just happen in summer her: ... jen call your landlord this isn't normal
so, yeah. not enough time to address this today before it got dark, but tomorrow for sure. Thursday is bathroom day, but I tidied a bit in there today in addition to the errands I ran so my schedule isn't too borked.
I put on my Containment Suit (long leggings, boots, hoodie, rubber gloves, the mask I wear for painting when fumes are involved, glasses) and hauled the trash can, a kettle of boiling water, disinfectant, a spray bottle, and several other trash bags down to the dumpster outside
I got like 99% of the gross eggs out of the inside of the thing; the rest are stuck in crevices I will use a plastic knife to get them out but they have been boiled and sprayed with disinfectant
this happens I think because the trash can itself is warm and humid on the inside... I need something to put inside it to dehumidify it on the regular. baking soda? maybe?
it was so gross but yes IT IS OVER and now I just need to be super diligent about taking out the trash and spraying the heck out of the trash can lid on the regular, like. I've gotten really good about managing dirty dishes so maybe I can chain the trash with running the dishwasher to make sure it gets done
