Buying something for a coworker's baby shower is an exercise in headaches

there was a family buying baby clothes as well and the mom kept saying "pick out boy colors"

but yeah, it's always nerve-wracking

Yeah, the main reason they do the heavily gendered stuff is to try to get parents to buy everything twice if all their kids don't happen to be the same sex, so when my mom had her first kid she specifically asked for stuff that wasn't gender coded so she wouldn't have to buy things again if her next kid was female (which I was)
