People discovering aphantasia is always a hoot

I think I have a milder form of it, I don't have a complete absence of visual imagination, but it's definitely a lot weaker than most people's and I absolutely do not "visualize" things, especially when reading

I have some degree of face blindness, not a very bad one, which I think is related. I have difficulty telling people apart unless I know them very well. Hollywood celebrities look largely the same to me and I can't tell most of them apart

It's part of the reason I like video games and animated shows/movies more than live action stuff, because it's much easier for me to tell what's going on and who's who. I have gone through entire live action movies not learning a single character's name because they all look the same ot me

That said the real reason I made this plurk is because I've always wanted to write something about what it's like to read and write the way I do. I get a lot of compliments on my writing, people say it's so descriptive and they can visualize things so vividly, but the funny thing is I don't have the same experience they do even though I wrote it

I'm glad people enjoy it, but they enjoy it in a way I can't, at best I get hazy images, but I still want to convey what I think they would be like if I could actually picture them properly.
