The level bump is thanks to where that dungeon fell. There were the other two launch 70 dungeons (Kugane Castle and Temple of the Fist), all of them drop 300, plus Deltascape which you can get 320 currency from between launch and that dungeon. It being right at the START of 4.1 is a little painful though.
