[champions, comics and superheroes in general] you know what I don't like? the trend of turning a small team into a super huge one

I like group dynamics, psuedo "found family" tropes carried out through a small team

you lose out on so much just adding every hero the team comes across into the roster

also the main reason I got out of, like, Young Justice once it got to season 2

it's cast bloat

and it's so weird to me when I see other people, like, incredibly excited by this cast bloat

I've seen plenty of people (even just on plurk) talk about how the last season of animated Teen Titans was their favorite because they were rapidly expanding their roster and had hoped for another season where they added even more people,

or how they loved it when Young Justice just started getting over a dozen members and kept adding more,

and in comics how now the Champions are recruiting so many people and can probably rival or beat Young Justice now,

I mean, I love Justice League Unlimited and that’s the biggest cast ever

But JLU also had really clear demarcations, like, THESE GUYS are the main cast, and THESE GUYS are just also there, don’t expect them to show up much.

Part of the reason I like Beast Wars is that they constantly had to put in more characters as demanded because toys

But they didn't have the budget for all the CGI a true cast bloat demanded

So every time a new character showed up and stuck around, one of the regulars would have to exit

Usually by being murdered

Sometimes by just leaving

Once they just fused two characters into one new character

Literally fused, because robots
