some of you may remember i quit about a month ago and instead of a paycheck my former employer sent me a weird pre-paid debit card ?? ???

i called many people for a long time trying to get a real ass check because the debit card incurs fees to draw out your own damn money :')

i FINALLY managed to get a check authorized -- not by my employer, by the company that issues these cards

the customer service person was very confused why i would get a card like this for a paycheck and gave me weird instructions to get it paid out in cash at the bank THEN deposit the cash in my account, not try to deposit the check

i went to the bank and the bank teller had to get her manager, who was like "I have been in banking for 15 years and i have never seen a check like this"

ANYWAY bless her she figured it out, cashed it, and im done now but at every turn everyone i tried to explain this to was like UH?????

at one point I got escalated to the "VP of HR" whatever that means because HR never returned my calls and idk if they even show up to work lmfao NO ONE EVER ANSWERS

and she gave me these weird roundabout excuses of how "no one's ever had a problem with the card before!"

btw to get a check cut for the pre-paid card, it said "call this number" and the number tells you to activate your card... and then if you listen to the whole menu, it says if you DO activate the card, you cannot get a check

so to get the check you can't activate the card but the number on the check that says "call this number to authorize" forces you to activate the card in order to proceed...........

i am free. i was looking up stuff to try to report them but I don't think I can do anything because they technically paid me what amounts to cash in card form. I just insisted on having a check
