: 4. His worst nightmare is pretty much just The Treening, TBH. Either exactly as it played out, because that was horrific enough, or an exaggerated version where he doesn't get a chance to form his contract because Cornet also nails Pierre, and Rudolph because he jumps in to shield him instead. Close curtains on Cornet taking his eyes
while he's too helpless/in shock/devastated to fight back, but he survives it regardless, and is left alone and in darkness. Or for a slightly less "basically just left of reality" nightmare, discovering that Cornet dying was ALSO just an illusion all along, and he'd really killed and replaced Rudolph, and now he was finally ready to move on Noel/the other
5. Surface level fear: Salt/Noel is terrified of becoming one of the monsters he kills. He knows he's all twisted up and ugly and broken inside, and those are prime conditions to become a monster after you die; he doesn't want to spread that kind of misery himself. Repressed fear: He's going to fail everyone just like he failed Charles, and the problem
will just snowball as the world becomes more miserable and wretched, and monsters are born too fast to keep up with. Deep dark fear: His work isn't just futile, but actively dangerous, and he's a shitty enough person to either allow his snowflake/fragment of power to be lost and extinguished forever instead of being passed on, or somehow actually corrupt
Fuck today, now I'M suffering. Nauseous all day and so far gotten to deal with two Mac tickets. FUCK Mac TBH these diagnostics are impossible to read. I'm taking obscenely long to even try and check specs.
