I mean, Bioware can't do alien sex to save their lives. They're happy to show all the bras and boobs and panties and boxer briefs in the world, but one naked turian won't make the world explode.
Garrus is on the edge of cringe. I like that they touch on his awkwardness with romance and it comes through genuine when it matters, but there are still some hella cringe moments.
Ashley's romance is... I just watched it for the first time. I am still not an Ashley fan. But ngl, they wrote her romance for the most part very well. Except for her constantly calling Shepard sir.
There's kinkshaming and then there's 'inability to separate rank from romance' and I feel like it falls into the latter. Especially when she's hung over in the floor.
"Oh yeah, you were in prison for a while, and since I couldn't reach you for three seconds, I met another woman and got her pregnant, hope you understand."
yesterday I was messing around with ME2 and I acquired their interactive comic for non-import Sheps. And. MAN the assumption that femShep had three choices: Kaidan, Liara, Decided To Turn Them Down For Mission. thst made me so annoyed.
I can buy straight-with-an-exception, but I feel like it's... Idk. They didn't do Kaidan well which makes me sad, because I can see what they wanted to do, but failed at.
Kaidan is very much ME's Cullen-Alistair, and yet, they aren't handled with any of the care. For all Cullen still needs a little work, but at least he's more consistent than Kaidan - he's just more apologised for while Kaidan tends to be shat on.
I've been working on a crossoverish thing? Absently. Where Alistair is in the ME universe. And you get more of a view of why Kaidan is so anti-Cerberus in ME2.
(I'm caught up on, "all organic life every 50, 000 years, but then, evolution is still.... a thing, HOW DO YOU GET FROM NOTHING BACK TO LIKE THE ASARI, BIOWARE!!!!")
So I theorise that there's a leviathan along with the titans, perhaps even creating the titans, in a vast underwater lake, and that leviathan is slowly becoming corrupted by the red lyrium. It's holding it together enough to keep Reapers away, but slowly failing because of what the Blight is starting to do to it. Of everything the Leviathans predicted,
Australian Aborigines are thought to have arrived here between 40 and 60K ago, so the whole time Liara was explaining here theories, I was mentally trying to imagine what the cave-art and dreamtime myths of the reapers would be . if it was just "bust civilizations back down", that'd be fine, but the stress on ALL ORGANIC LIFE!!!! is making me go "...no"
Cecil de Montfort: “the exalted council understands that you’ve discovered an actual ancient elf in the ice box and defrosted him!” inquisitor: [exchanges a Look with Solas] “Yeah, he was, uh, right behind the bronto roast.”
And the Krogan head.
