I agree that it's stupid. I also agree that Fox News is till rubbish because the way they covered this was just as bad as the behaviour they criticise here. And Alan Dershowitz is lying, may I say commits the equivalency of a perjury in the first sentence.
That said, this was a pretty stupid thing to do.

WBur has a good article on it:
