This is why there was once a flourishing land of half-dragons no matter what the D&D setting you're using.

DnD has to encourage the boning of other species or else how else can we get our special half species

Half-dragons are extremely rare in Eberron, but that's primarily because Eberron's dragons are extra snooty.

In 3.5 you could technically have a half-dragon dragon.

........I'm pretty sure the half-dragon template specifically excludes base creatures that are already o fthe Dragon type.

You could also have a half-dragon treant and it was ridiculously powerful.
