And realise (i think yesterday) that Vulpe hasn't actually done anything or made any threats regarding the bond; gil is just Extremely Not Okay with the very idea that the bond would be fucked with

logically to Gil, it follows that if Vulpe can interact with this bond, especially in a physical manner like he did, then he can probably do a whole lot worse than just poke

(also, and this is something I was genuinely not thinking of while writing, I wonder if it doesn't remind Gil of losing things to the Hedge in some way. re; intangible but very real/present aspects of himself being removed)

The way the skill works, he doesn't so much sever a bond as reattach one end to someone else entirely, but Gil has no reason to know that, and it probably wouldn't help much even if he did.
