taking a pause for a little bit but a slight meta thought: Wonder if the Eye's ritual-if it ever does or needs one-involves the podcast audience.

Because narratively we're functioning as observers situated within the Eye's domain, receiving a more refined stream of information than the people at the Institute are: no crackpot statements, just the real ones.

(except perhaps that one day with the three or four statements we got to hear, which were hilarious but the arachnophobic dude was--well, either worked up to the point of paranoid delusion or he really was experiencing unnatural spider behavior.

I keep going back and forth on those statements, because they were hilarious but without more information there's no way to tell if the tape recorder was on because This Is Plot or just because they had goofy ideas that week for stuff to act out or if they wanted to introduce Peter Lukas but didn't want the team to meet him yet

also Word of God is that any statement that appears as A Statement is supernatural

it was kind of stated in the podcast too, when Jon became aware that statements only failed to record digitally if they were bullshit

and yeah Basira made mention that the others had made attempts, but the Eye only just drew attention from the others because of the latest befuckery with the Unknowing

also I appreciate that the attack by the Flesh happened off-mic because that would probably involve a whole lot of foley work that would be Unpleasant

and I just sat here eating a food while listening to the intro to the latest episode so
