[KH/no spoilers] FRIENDS, HELP US OUT WITH A LORE QUESTION. festivals and I are trying to remember if there was ever a thing where Riku was jealous of Sora for having the keyblade, for the specific reason that it was supposed to be his after what terra did in BBS. but we can't think of a conversation where Riku actually states this... does this exist??

I have no idea about BBS stuff but I do remember in the original game, Riku claimed the keyblade was always supposed to be his and Sora was ultimately just a messenger boy

hrrghh its been so long but i feel like, since he goes on about being the true intended wielder in hollow bastion, its safe to assume he at least knows it was meant to be his re: terra, even if he never specifically says it. he was old enough to remember that encounter

you could probably also say that maleficent dropped that hint to make him jelly over it

i just replayed kh1 last year and i feel like i remember him being like that should be MY keyblade... i don't think he ever outright says he was jealous but it's implied pretty heavily

at the end of kh2 too he talks about how he was always jealous of sora (altho i don't think he specifically mentions the keyblade)

yeah definitely just implied, since I went to look at that scene I mean, he's pretty damn pissed when the keyblade fucks off back to Sora so if that's not a very salty, jealous boy, I don't know what is.

But yeah his attitude in kh1 re: Sora having the keyblade is always v. dismissive-- calling him the delivery boy, that scene in monstro where he asks if he's too cool to play games now that he has the keyblade, etc

that's bc Riku in KH1 is such a shithead but I love him nonetheless

kh1 Riku is truly the most dickish of rikus

repliku is a strong contender but loses dick points for outright telling Sora he is Upset because Sora Never Considers HIS Feelings, owning the real riku forever if Sora didn't get convenient amnesia later on
