it's... fine, in motion, honestly? It takes some getting used to, but I've seen much, much worse as far as CG anime goes

some good storytelling, but could be better. I think they use CG for performances in Bandori and did in season 1 anyway because hand animation the manipulation of instruments is sort of a bitch.

Direction and staging here is fine, the characters emote a lot more than a lot of CG anime I've seen.

can only cram so much into one episode, but I was kind of actually impressed how much they juggled, even if it was just a brief aside line

you're not going to do a full 13 episode season and be able devote huge chunks to every character, but there is some obvious stuff set up with both schools student councils, specific plot lines for Rinko, Tae, and Rimi

(HHW as comedic background noise mostly in the first episode was... kind of how I envisioned they'd work best in a full show.)
