we had middleschoolers in today workin on a really neat project with their social studies teacher

basically, they find a local soldier that died during World War 1 that's noted on one of the memorials, and then write up biographies for them

by looking up information in our system

so it was a really good session; both for me to see how we do work with clients/what systems we have (and we have a LOT) and for the kids to learn about local history

: yeah! This time they focused on people from Marysville, since they've done a lot on the Fredericton Memorial

The guy we were doing, Herbert Markey- poor dude died apparently of pneumonia, and that sort of gave me pause- I turned to my boss and was like "Huh, do you think that could've been the result of the spanish flu?"
