the joke of his imeeji name being [god/noble/prince] of peace is that that is actually basically his narrative framing in life, he who risked his life to bring the war to and end and harmony to the two nations!! through love and marriage!! not that he is called anything that flattering for it by people in his setting but that is also the joke.
all of this is very funny when in imeeji he definitely falls closer to the violence end of the spectrum if you line up everyone's moral leanings next to each other and I think also has a (earned) ic reputation for being even further down that way
I keep getting thrown off bc of stuff like Tristan talking about how Taisho is spread out on the moral spectrum and in my head I'm like "actually aren't we almost all pretty pacifistic" and then realizing I am part of the spread LOL
it's very interesting to me though to see how his morality, being from a more violence-glorifying culture but in which he is considered pacifistic to an extreme, measures up against like, the standard in imeeji, which is set mostly by people who are bringing in expectations that are considered unremarkable from more modern and bureaucratic settings
Ardashir is not really a saint who is dedicated to saving or helping people to begin with, but he does resent the hyper-violent/hyper-masculine trappings of his own culture so I like seeing where the line he falls on between internalizing it and bucking against it ends up compared to what is "common sense" to us now
I actually don't remember if he ever noticed any of the previous incidents of Aries being particularly protective, this may have been a wild departure from the decently pleasant man he speed dated that one time
but it rarely comes up because he doesn't typically take it upon himself to make that judgment personally and he is much more likely to take a life in the name of convenience or strategy
in general while he personally dislikes violence he is actually not against it in a moral sense, however he DOES dislike the premise of brute force being a measure of who is valuable or who is correct or who is in power
but he tends to avoid making or admitting to moral judgments because he doesn't consider himself a person who has much ground to stand on in that regard and so generally does his best to conduct himself and make arguments on virtually any other grounds (if he makes arguments at all)
but he is generally inclined to at least respect people who have and hold onto morality and ideals (that aren't used to degrade others) (so things like racial superiority don't count)
he didn't originally have that kind of mindset in quite the same oppositional sense in imeeji although he did consider himself not a good person but after Cardigangate and his sister being around for like 2 seconds he dropped into being resentful about Right and Wrong in a way closer to how he is during some parts of canon
he likes Shu because Shu has high standards for himself but the two times he's seriously gravely disagreed with Shu on moral grounds were 1. the last supper everyone knows what happened there already 2. THAT ONE TIME SHU SAID EMOTIONAL MANIPULATION IS BAD BUT FEARMONGERING DOESN'T COUNT
although he is actually more ideologically incompatible with Shu on the topic of purity laughs but they haven't gotten into a serious disagreement on that somehow
he copes with loss poorly but he copes even more poorly when thinking about his dead family when he also thinks about how part of his dead family was inexplicably alive and in imeeji for 2 seconds
I actually have no idea what he would do with it if anyone ever tried to stop him to be like "actually is this a bad coping mechanism do you have a weird relationship with sex should we not fuck right now"
I guess that’s not exactly along the lines of morality discussion but I was tagging Hiryuu and his internal response to emotional discussion was basically mmmm ok so make out now
going back to revivals the funny thing is that he would probably actually be invested in literally anyone from his setting going back to life even if he literally hates them
Azar in particular was an internalized clusterfuck of self-imposed obligation because he feels like he unrightfully replaced her in what should have been her fate/role in life
“well this person could be a problem when I go home so I should kill them” or “well this person is already dead so they shouldn’t be allowed to go back to life”
but also because he is at the end of the day someone who views everyone as their own person with their own life and people who care about them, and for anyone who wasn’t already dead then there is a difference to him between like, they died at the king’s will in a war vs they’re just gone now and everyone around them will never know why
honestly what's really not clicking into place for him with pp's live is that he has had so many interactions in imeeji with like, the rest of Taisho, sensitIV, Hiryuu, Phoenix etc. where they all kind of express a similar frustration of "I want to be able to be useful and help people"
so pp being like WE DON'T WANT TO SEE DEAD BODIES SO WE ARE RESISTANT TO USING OUR POWER TO HELP IF SOMEONE IS DEAD is like, on one hand, relatable, Yasun also hates looking at dead bodies
he doesn't think it's the wrong thing to do or it makes them bad people or anything it is just flatout counter to everything else he's gotten used to hearing in imeeji so far so he doesn't know what to do with it
