Apparently, according to one of the people who played an extra on the set when they were filming the first episode of s10, Capaldi was ad-libbing a lot of it, making up lessons and rambling on and on, and at one point he went "And you kids and your social fucking media!"
I was so amused. Apparently he would randomly call out certain people in the classroom and pick on them, like "What does that make you think, stripey shirt?" "...OAO Uh...uh...I don't know?" and then when they were between shots, he'd be like "Sorry I picked on you, how are you all? :V"
See, I'm terrible at ad-libbing irl. Which sucks, 'cause the rest of my family is witty as fuck! They're bouncing off of each other like total pros, and I'm just sitting there, staring back and forth like 8'D.

Yeah, being able to balance it out perfectly! And it just reflects life better. 'cause even when you're depressed, there are things about life that are just funny, and visa versa. Humans are a bunch of trashpandas in the grand scheme of things
Capaldi unleashed his most Malcolm Tucker swearsy Scottsman evil on the actors and especially the one he knew would channel it all right back to him so that he could get the PURE FUCKING HATRED from him for the scene

Me and my younger sister do pretty good at bouncing off of each other, but that's cause we talk to each other in the characters voices for things we've watched together so much that they're second nature. Like Legacy of Kain, or X-Men. We're always talking out character dialogue on the fly, for no reason.
