We're making our way through classic movies. Just finished 'Chinatown'. Found the end very unsatisfactory. (spoilers? It's from the 70's, frankly)

It's like... he solves the case, great. And then... the bad guy wins.

Completely.

He kills his daughter who can't speak against him or stop him from taking his grand daughter (actually his daughter from raping his daughter as a teen) and he gets away with the murder, the abuse and will go on to offend again

The police are totallybought out

And it... felt very unsatisfactory
