Apparently one of my co-workers is annoyed that I asked him to stop using a word in casual conversation, and is taking it to our managers because I said, "Can you please not use that word at work anymore?"
ReJenerator
Considering the word and the people who tend to use it and their attitudes, the irony is so thick you can't cut it with a chainsaw.
ReJenerator
I just wanted him to stop describing pretty much everyone he disagreed with as a "cuck". Is that so wrong?
Sᴇᴇʀ
...how is that a business-required word
Sᴇᴇʀ
how is
Sᴇᴇʀ
god your work place is so questoinable sometimes
ReJenerator
it's trying to hold on to that "hey, we're a startup, we need to be transgressive!!" vibe, at the cost, sometimes, of being rude as hell.
ReJenerator
And it's not business-required, it's me stepping on his right to express himself. See, this support thing, for him, is just a way to have money. He's really an artiste. He uses our big printers to make his sculptures. All the time.
ReJenerator
so to him, his right to express himself is the most important.
Corgi
I really really hate that word. I hate the attitudes that that word hangs off of, and the sheer arrogance of it all. I consider anybody using that word, even if they're just stupid kids using it because they think it's edgy and don't know the meaning to be, frankly, enemies.
ReJenerator
He asked what my problem was with it, and I told him "It manages to be incredibly racist AND incredibly sexist AND incredibly classist AND abusive all in one word."
Corgi
As well as sounding very sub-cultural and pretentious.
Corgi
It's nearly jargon.
Hazard Kitten
yeah, anyone who uses 'cuck' is not a person worth knowing
Sᴇᴇʀ
agreed
ReJenerator
unforunately, you can't pick your co-workers.
ReJenerator
I mean, I could, but people would wonder why I brought in the pick.
Corgi
grins savagely
