things I am realizing at word the street: non-parents don't know what age is grade

people keep asking about age ranges for the books and not being sure when I say "this one's about grade three but it's actually a big hit with the middle school crowd"

I have to count knowing kindergarten is generally 5

like I can get to 3rd grade is roughly 8 yrs but not immediately

I have so many deep and abiding traumas from my years in the public school system that grades and ages are indelibly linked for me :V
