It's been a crazy summer, due to the road work going on in front of our house, though thankfully, that's coming to an end.

Hmm, I guess an old house would probably keep "settling" a lot and therefore creaking. Maybe the relic gives off a faint humming or pulsing sort of noise. The innocent listener might assume it machinery, or it could give off a noise that's barely within the range of human hearing. L
