Bright Eyes is one of my favorite bands alongside Say Anything because I feel like both are situations where the band/singer grew up alongside me - less so in the case of Bright Eyes, but

For Say Anything, Max Bemis just grew out of his rebellious/punk/emo phase and tackled more mature themes in a graceful way that I think was basically perfect. A lot of his opinions changed alongside mine and in that way Say Anything stayed relevant to me

Bright Eyes is a little different, I used to listen to them when I was sad or depressed and it would... I guess not magnify the feeling, but like give a sense of shared suffering - a lot of Conor Oberst's songs are emotional in that way

Like having a friend there without actually having a friend there, if that makes sense! Like someone else was sad with me

I don't feel like he's changed much or left that niche, but listening to them now gives me a very different feeling now that my outlook is a little different

More like we're getting over it together than suffering together, which I think is the intent. You can listen to Bright Eyes at any stage of Bad Feelings and relate to them

I like this song! His voice is nice

Yeah! Conor Oberst has a suuuper recognizable voice (he's in a lot of projects)

Fevers & Mirrors, LIFTED, I'm Wide Awake It's Morning, and Cassadaga are incredible albums imo - none are better than the others, they're all basically 10/10 from me LOL

IF YOU EVER WANNA LISTEN... Fevers & Mirrors is farthest on the "depressing" scale (it has songs that deal with suicidal thoughts etc), I'm Wide Awake It's Morning is still pretty sad, LIFTED is still melancholy but lighter, and Cassadaga is yet again still melancholy but definitely the lightest-of-heart

Most people call Cassadaga his best album just cuz if you've been listening for all these years it's a perfect mix of melancholy and happy (like a bittersweet deal) and it's just so nice and beautiful and pure to hear him doing okay LOL
