: Why do people need to practice their religion without a government permit? Making an "untraceable" gun takes nothing more than a file. This is not making it "easier" for criminals in any way.

All of this "the streets will run red with blood if the government doesn't record every sale" is a straw man. Until 1968 anyone (including children) could buy a gun through a catalog or at the local hardware or department store. There were no age restrictions, no registration system and no background check.
