Dorking Gala Night 2017: Everything you need to know

so we have this thing called Gala night every first thursday of DEcember, where literally the whole town is open till 11pm and there are discounts and live bands and food stalls

and see, i thought Gala night happened EVERYWHERE

so anyway with the addition of the Dorking Cock, dressing him up each Galanight also became a thing

librariansheart one year we actually managed to string lights around him like a big ol christmas tree

I legit think some of my graduating class come back each year to get together to outdo the people who 'vandalised' the statue the year before that

and they're in competition with the Dorking Hookers and Stitchers (the knitting and crochet club, ofc)

Our version of that is First Friday!

(or rather, one of them. I missread First Fridays are smaller than a gala, but there's def events that are like that)

(we had Mayfest and Fallapolusa that re the huge deals

oohhhhhh

It's super interesting for us, because we';re the biggest town in the Mole Valley constituency

and so you get to see like... everyone
