looks like there might be a state shutdown all next week, and I haven't gotten an email saying to come in anyway as essential staff. on the plus side, time off, but I doubt I'm getting paid for it.

I need an actuary job asap. Some of the side benefits might not be as kushy as a state job, but at least I won't end up with situations like this

what's insulting is that essential employees who are working next week still get 4th of July off, which is fine, but they get paid for it while the rest of us don't.

bad news: shutdown is pretty much definite. good news: I might still get paid, but at some later point, retroactively.
