And now the replacement adapter is here and it works beautifully! I have my full setup back up (laptop plus external monitor and keyboard). The keyboard is an ergonomic split keyboard, so it's easier to type with my wrist brace. (It's not well enough to go without the brace yet, so I'll be wearing it a bit longer.)
